My dear Solitude team,
While flying back to Belgium I was leaving behind a world which became very dear to me. More than ever before I started to feel at home in your incredible city. Sitting here in my office I miss my daily ride’s in taxi’s and metro, the taco’s al pastor, tequila, the spicy taste of your food, feeling the energy of that fantastic giant called Mexico City.
Step by step I start to realize what happened during this 3 weeks we were able to work together. Doing my ‘old’ project again but in a new context, it was injected with a new spirit, a new life, the beautiful blend of your personalities and souls. Sometimes chaotic but great. More than missing my favourite city I regret not being there anymore and enjoying to watch you working and laughing together, hear you singing, playing music, improvising, starting another new game during lunch or in front of an embassy … The flash backs of seeing you taking this project as an opportunity to create together a new world, a unique universe on stage and discovering new challenges and ways of expressing, colours my mind with great memories.
Of course after many rehearsals we had moments of despair. ‘C’est pas gagné’ (“we have not yet won”) was the quote I shared very often with Pierre-Louis. But this is what this project is about: a supporting space and context to discover and develop our possibilities as musicians and performing artists. A game which will never be “gagné” but we got very far!
I will cherish this precious time we’ve spent together, which is finished for me, but not yet for you. Enjoy every single moment you can be part of this fantastic group, creating a unique world on stage. Solitude/Soledad is just beautiful! Congratulations to all of you!
Good luck and thank you so much for this fantastic experience!
